GreenWay Solar, established with Brightwell Holdings, Yılsan and individual partners from Turkey and Israel. Greenway Solar is in cooperation with Tel Aviv University School of Physics to develop Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) Technology, including a hybrid system combined with fossil fuels (coal or natural gas) enable the system to operate around the clock regardless of low solar radiation due to night/weather conditions. “Trough System” may in future integrate thermal storage allowing for electricity generation several hours into the evening. Company will use the advantage of generating electricity with heat, unlike PV (photovoltaic) systems that use the sun’s light. The heat may also be used to heat buildings near the plant.

CSP plants provide an environmentally benign source of energy, producing virtually no emissions. About the only impact CSP plants have on the environment is land use. Although the amount of land a CSP plant occupies is larger than that of a fossil fuel plant, both types of plants use about the same amount of land because fossil fuel plants use additional land for mining and exploration as well as road building to reach the mines. Other benefits of CSP plants include low operating costs, and the ability to produce power during high-demand periods.

About Yılsan
Yılsan, founded in the 1950’s in Ankara, has participated in the tender in 1996 held by Romanian Privatization Office’s public tender and has become one of the main shareholders of Azomures S.A.
(www.azomures.com) which is the largest capacity chemical fertilizer factory in Europe. Azomures S.A. is quoted in the Bucharest Stock Exchange and has an annual production of approximately 1.5 million tons of various fertilizers.

In 1996 Yılsan was awarded the tender for Eskişehir Natural Gas Plant by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, under the Build-Operate-Transfer model.

In 2005 Yılsan entered into renewable energy and in 2008, has taken into operation a 9 MW run-of-the-river type hydroelectric power plant generating 40 GWh of energy. Currently, Yılsan is developing 4 more hydroelectric projects with a total capacity of 74 MW and in different regions of Turkey which will generate 265 GWh of energy.

Relying on its successful track record in the energy sector, Yılsan has also submitted its proposals in 2007 to EMRA (Energy Market Regulatory Agency) to obtain approval for 4 wind power projects with a total capacity of 170 MW which are currently under assessment.
